Welcome to BAYSIDE HOTEL 116 WEST STREET

BAYSIDE HOTEL 116 WEST STREET stands as a practical choice for travelers seeking comfort and convenience in Durban’s vibrant South Beach area. Nestled on 116 West Street, this modest yet well-maintained hotel offers a blend of affordability and essential amenities within walking distance of the beach and key attractions such as UShaka Marine World and Suncoast Casino.

The hotel consistently earns praise for its cleanliness and functional rooms. Guests appreciate the upmarket touches in the accommodations—including air conditioning, a well-equipped bathroom, a microwave, and a fridge—providing a sense of familiarity and ease for those on the road. The availability of Wi-Fi throughout the premises supports both business and leisure visitors, while secure paid parking addresses a common concern in a busy urban locale.

Staff interaction appears to be a mixed experience. While several reviews commend the friendly and helpful nature of certain employees, there have been occasional reports of less welcoming behavior at reception, signaling room for improvement in customer service consistency. Nevertheless, many guests highlight the genuine warmth shown by the hotel team, enhancing the overall atmosphere.

BAYSIDE HOTEL 116 WEST STREET does well catering to families and travelers who value accessibility, with room service and a kid-friendly environment rounding out its offerings. Though lacking a pool, fitness center, or airport shuttle, the location compensates by placing visitors in easy reach of Durban’s bustling cultural and entertainment hubs.

The absence of a lift and some minor maintenance issues have been noted, suggesting areas where the hotel could elevate its guest experience further. However, the competitive pricing and convenient amenities make this hotel an attractive option for those prioritizing essential comfort and proximity over luxury.

In essence, BAYSIDE HOTEL 116 WEST STREET captures the spirit of Durban’s South Beach—practical, approachable, and close to the action. It stands out as a solid budget-friendly location with enough modern conveniences to satisfy diverse traveler needs, from solo adventurers to families.

On our day of arrival we arrive at Bayside 116 the Reception Ladies were not helpful as they were busy with what they were doing except for Precious who was willing to help us bt the lady (Indian Lady) I'm sorry to say but one was rude and informant I forgot to take her name, even when the key was given to us she didn't even look at us. According to my knowledge eye contact is very important. The cleaners and security guards were very friendly, kind and helpful. Mthiya the guy with gold heart help us with our bags to the room that was very helpful, his kindness made us feel at home while we were away. Rooms were clean, the remote was not working we reported it and it was fixed. I so wish if the Guards may train the Reception Ladies on how to treat a guest. On the following day we greet the ladies at the reception the was no respond. I also wish they could tell us about the parking cos it says it's free only to find that it R50 per night. Other than that we had a nice holiday we'be enjoyed our stay, everything was perfect. The Beach and Ushaka Marine World were closeby. When we were checking out same lady(Indian Lady) took the key she didn't even ask us about our stay, she just took a key put it aside with no smile on her face.

Surprisingly very upmarket style rooms for the area. Extremely clean room and bathroom. Has a cute microwave and fridge to warm your takeouts and keep your cooldrinks and fruit cold. TV's have most channels and a fantastic air-conditioner to keep you cool . Hairdryer available on request. Staff extremely helpful and friendly

Very clean just a lot of stairs. A lift would have been perfect there especially when you have stuff to carry.
